World AIDS Day: Take Action to "Zero" AIDS
On December 1st, 2015, Dr. Catherine Sozi, representative of UNAIDS in China, and Zhang Yinjun, director of APEPCY Office and director of Beijing Changier Education Foundation, visited Xinhuanet.com to discuss the new progress in the prevention and treatment of AIDS among youth.
Dr. Catherine Sozi: Ending AIDS in 2030 Requires Efforts from All Parties
Ending AIDS by 2030 will require the efforts of all of us – including those who use drugs; those who are too afraid to get tested and seek protection; those who do not know how to protect themselves; and those who do not have the right information. Let them get the right guidance, know what is wrong, know how to protect themselves, to avoid them being infected from the beginning.
Zhang Yinjun: China's AIDS Prevention and Control Faces "Low Prevalence" and "High Worry"
I would conclude China's current situation of AIDS prevention and control in two words: "low prevalence" and "high concern". "Low prevalence" refers to the overall AIDS prevalence in China, which is 0.06%, less than one tenth of the world average. This trend is generally low prevalence. "High worry" is the emergence of a new situation: currently more than 90% of AIDS transmission among young people is through sexual transmission, this feature caused great concern.
