Dear directors and supervisors of Changier, directors of workstations in all bases, teachers in all schools, colleagues on the frontline of Changier, volunteers and friends: Good morning! Happy New Year! 

At the end of last year, Beijing Changier Education Foundation (Changier) was rated 5A social organization by the Beijing Municipal Government. This is another particularly important social recognition after Changier being awarded the special consultative status of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2019. 5A is the highest level of social organization evaluation, indicating that our comprehensive strength, social influence, ability to participate in national and global governance and contribution to charity in China and even the world is up to the highest level in China. It took Changier 8 years to reach the 5A standard after its establishment in 2014, which is the fastest one in China. This achievement is realized by the joint efforts of the whole team. At the beginning of the New Year, I would like to express my gratitude to all of you. I would like to thank the national party committees and governments at all levels for their care, love and support to Changier over the years. I would also like to sincerely thank our colleagues, volunteers, and friends all over the country, as well as the directors and supervisors present here for your hard work. 

5A is an honor and a pressure. I fell pride and humble. 

The year 2023 is destined to be an extraordinary year. After the lift of COVID-19 control policies in China, the whole country entered a special period that all of us had experienced. Many people have lost their loved ones. Hundreds of millions of people across the country are infected. Me too, and I’m still in recovery. After three years of epidemic, the national economy has suffered, enterprises and families are facing pressure, so is Changier. It is not easy for Changier to set sail as a 5A organization in such a special period. 

Even so, with our loyalty and persistence to charity, as well as the confidence and courage in the face of difficulties and pressure, Changier has gone adversity over the past three years. The amount of fund-raising and the number of beneficiaries increased year by year, and it won several awards in 2022. For example, our promotional video “Tomorrow on the Moon”, which is about the left-behind children in the city, won the Yellow River Prize, and the number of audiences reached 286 million. At the same time, we won the Outstanding Public Welfare Communication Award in 2022 in the 5th Social Responsibility Award. For two consecutive years, we were awarded the annual public welfare project and the annual public welfare figure at the 11th and 12th public welfare festivals and corporate social responsibility carnival. All these show that Changier can do great things and make great achievements, and further enhance our confidence in building a well-known national and even global charity organization. 

In 2023, we shoulder an even heavier mission. Recently, Changier Office has been making a summary, and has drawn up a plan for the year 2023 and the development goals for the next five to ten years. We also made an in-depth discussion on how to make a Centennial Changier. At present, Changier is also updating itself, with new directors joining in and people retiring. On January 5th, we invited experts to give a lecture to Changier on “the construction of organization” and “team building”, and I was deeply impressed by the part “the relationship between construction and development”. Reviewing Changier from the perspective of “construction”, we have both achievements and shortcomings. In terms of organizational construction, there is more to be done to meet the demands of national development, the demands of Changier’s own development, and the demands of various undertakings of Changier throughout the country. What I said about “feeling humble” is not a polite remark, but a deep sense of crisis. Compared with other excellent social organizations in China, our achievements and progress are limited, and we cannot be complacent. Looking to the future, we need to focus on improving ourselves, to overcome the most severe difficulties and pursue the most ambitious goals, to keep a fighting spirit, and get ready for new development opportunities and challenges. In 2023, let us put our heads down and go full steam ahead toward our goals. 

Here, I want to show our blueprint for the future development of Changier, the direction that we strive for, and I hope you can contribute more wisdom to this. Without doubt, the direction of the country is the direction of our joint efforts. As a social organization, Changier also has its own direction. 

First, we must make full use of the 5A status and the special status of ECOSOC, firmly adhere the new development pattern of promoting positive interplay between domestic circulation and international circulation while giving priority to the domestic circulation. 

Second, we must focus on our core business, develop new growth points, and realize the qualitative leap through the accumulation of fund-raising. We know that our ability is limited. We cannot cover the whole world, but we can focus on a small point and do well. 

Third, we must stay true to the founding mission of Changier, and always keep in mind the people who need our help. Our aim is to make love and kindness accessible to everyone.

Fourth, we must adhere to the mass line, and make the Foundation bigger and stronger under the concerted efforts of the Changier team, national bases and workstations, volunteers, caring enterprises and cooperative institutions. It is the common goal of all our Changier members to build a centennial well-known foundation rooted in China and going global, so as to make the world more beautiful thanks to Changier. 

To go far, Changier must face up to its own shortcomings, let go of our achievements and honors, and have the courage to “start from the beginning”. The year 2023 is a new starting point for Changier to move ahead. The future of Changier requires bigger ambitions. 5A is not the end, but the starting point. At present, there are 6,581 organizations with special consultative status of ECOSOC, among which more than 1,300 in the United States and less than 80 in China. Therefore, the UN special consultative status is an international responsibility undertaken by Changier. We have only just begun to build a Centennial Foundation. We plan to have a grand celebration by 2025, the 20th anniversary of APEPCY. We will then draw on the experience of the past 20 years to strive for the next 20 years. We sincerely hope that by the centenary of the PRC, APEPCY and the Beijing Changier Education Foundation will make a significant development and make a remarkable achievement. We hope that the Changier will make a major contribution to the building of our great country and the human community with a shared future. 

Today is 17th December according to lunar calendar, and the Spring Festival is coming soon. I would like to take this opportunity to pay New Year greetings to all of you on behalf of Changier, and express my sincerest wishes to every Changier member, teacher, leader, friend and people all over the country who care about and support the development of Changier. I wish you all a happy New Year, happiness for your families, and farewell to COVID-19. Let us jointly usher in a brand-new and beautiful tomorrow.
