On May 26, the "To Build a Happy Family" seminar was jointly convened by the Women and Children Committee of Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and Peking University Research Center on Women's Issues in China and Abroad, in partnership with the Beijing Changier Education Foundation and the Beijing Marriage and Family Research Association, at Yingjie Exchange Center of Peking University. Zhang Yinjun, Deputy Director of the Women and Children Committee of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and Chairman of the Beijing Changier Education Foundation, attended the event.

How to increase the birth rate? How does the internet affect family structures? How to make family relationships more harmonious? Distinguished scholars in marriage and family studies gathered in the seminar and held discussions centered on fostering a new era family outlook and cultivating a fertility-friendly environment. Pang Lijuan, Vice Chairperson of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and Chairperson of the Beijing Municipal Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Tong Xin, Director of the Women and Children Committee of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, chaired the seminar. Zhang Yinjun, Vice Director of the Women and Children Committee of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and Chairman of the Beijing Changier Education Foundation, was also present.

Pang Lijuan, on behalf of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, extended congratulations on the organization of the seminar. She pointed out that the family is the most basic unit of society, and family building is the cornerstone of national and social construction, as well as a stabilizer for harmonious social development. We must thoroughly grasp the historical context and spiritual essence of the concept of the family in the new era, and deeply understand its political, theoretical, and practical significance. At present, the relationships within marriages and families around the world, China included, are undergoing tremendous changes. It is essential to conduct in-depth research on issues such as fertility, marriage, and family relationships to promote harmony within families and throughout society.

Jiang Guohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University and Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Ye Jingyi, Director of the Peking University Research Center on Women's Issues in China and Abroad, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Jiang Xiuhua, Former Deputy Director of the Women's Studies Institute of the All China Women's Federation, Jiang Yongping, President of the Beijing Marriage and Family Research Association, Liu Aiyu, researcher at the Peking University Research Center on Women's Issues in China and Abroad and professor in the Department of Sociology, Li Jianxin, professor in the Department of Sociology at Peking University, Yang Juhua, professor in the Department of Sociology at Minzu University of China, and Zhang Lei, researcher at the Peking University Research Center on Women's Issues in China and Abroad and Associate Professor at Institute of Population Research delivered thematic reports on "Study of Family Values in the New Era" and "The Construction of a Birth-Friendly Society and Happy Families."

Liang Hongxing, Director of the Organizational Department of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and full-time Deputy Director of the Women and Children Committee, together with committee members Liu Jia, Liu Liping, Shen Juan, Han Yujuan, Zhao Hongmei, and Xie Shuping, attended the seminar in person. Yang Haixia, the rotating chair of the Women and Children Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee for the year 2024, and researchers from the Peking University Research Center on Women's Issues in China and Abroad, along with several members of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, also attended the event. Additionally, directors, deputy directors, and members of the Women and Children Committees of the provincial organizations, totaling over 200 participants, attended the seminar online.
